JFA celebrated Charlie Parker’s 100th Birthday by bringing together some of the greatest jazz musicians, journalists and jazz fans to tell his stories and share his music. Filmed in Los Angeles and New York, the performances brought Charlie’s tunes to a new level and into the viewers homes. Stories and thoughts about his life and contribution to music were interwoven through the show. Patrice Rushen, Gary Bartz, Jaleel Shaw, Kenny Barron, Keyon Harold, George Cables and Sheila Jordan were some of the incredible musicians who paid homage to Charlie while Danny Glover and Jeffrey Wright co-hosted and took us thru the evening. The show raised much needed funds for JFA’s COVID-19 Musicians Fund.
